ISD2016 Katowice

Welcome to the website of the 25th International Conference on Information Systems Development (ISD2015 Katowice). The conference will be hosted by the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland.

The theme of the 25th ISD Conference includes considerations of context, creativity and cognition in information systems development field which enable information systems to be examined as they are actually developed, implemented and used. Context-aware computing refers to the ability of computing devices to detect and sense, interpret and respond to, aspects of a user's local environment and the computing devices themselves. The considerations of context are important for mobile applications development. Cognition and creativity are also present in an organisation’s development efforts, in the identification of new markets and technologies, and in their ICT projects.

Context, creativity and cognition have different interpretations in social and technical sciences, which encourages inter-, cross-, multi- and intradisciplinary research.

Accepted papers will be published in the ISD Proceedings (with ISBN) which will appear in the Association for Information Systems (AIS) eLibrary. In addition, a selection of the best papers (by invitation) will be published by Springer as a separate volume of the Lecture Notes in Information Systems and Organization series (indexed by Scopus; subject to final approval).

ISD History

The International Conference on Information Systems Development is an academic conference hosted annually in a different location worldwide, where scientists and practitioners are welcomed to participate and share their knowledge and expertise in the field of information systems development. During its history, the conference has focused on different aspects, ranging from methodological, infrastructural or educational challenges in the ISD field, to bridging the gaps between industry, academia and society. However, the mission of the conference has remained the same throughout its time: to research, share and discuss developments and trends in Information Systems and Information Systems Development.

Demanding high quality standards, the organizers and reviewers put the quality of submitted papers over quantity, which has kept the conference size at an intimate level with an average of 80 papers, and where each researcher receives a significant audience.

For many years the conference has held an A rank in the well-known CORE Conference Rankings report (see report for ISD here).

The ISD conference has strong connections within the international information systems community and is now an Affiliated Conference of the Association for Information Systems (AIS).

The essential information on the conferences that took place since 1998 is presented in the list below. Please also visit the ISD home page for more information on past and future conferences.
